What are redirects?
Redirects are used to send users from one URL to another. For example, if a user types in support.brandname.com/oldarticleURL a redirect can be set up to send the user instead to support.brandname.com/newarticleURL
Why would you need redirects?
Redirects provide a smooth transition for brands looking to migrate from their old help center to Mavenoid Dynamic Help Center.
Redirects ensure that search engines are guided to the new content and URL (aiding in SEO). They also ensure that any links that are present on the brands storefront/email footers/marketing comms or even bookmarked by the customer, redirect them to the correct URL without frustrating them with a dreaded 404.
How to add redirects?
Head over to your Site Settings under Touchpoints. On the left-hand panel, select ‘Redirects’. From here, you can either select ‘Single’ or ‘Import CSV’.
When selecting ‘Single’ you will be prompted to add in the old path i.e. /oldarticleURL and the new path /newarticleURL
Once you select 'Add redirect', anyone who tries to access the old path, will now be redirected to the new path.
In order to set up redirects in bulk, you can upload a CSV. The CSV file must follow the structure 'from, to'. CSV example here
Once uploaded, your redirects will appear in the list and can be edited or deleted at any time.
