Once you have created your site, a free Mavenoid domain will be associated to your site following the pattern [orgname]-[uniqueref].mavenoidsite.com.
To ensure brand consistency and to leverage domain authority from your existing domain, it is advised to connect your site to a custom subdomain.
You will need:
A site created under touchpoints
IT resources from your team to set up the CNAME record in your DNS provider
Follow the step-by-step guide below to connect your custom domain.
Add the URL for the custom domain you wish to connect to your site. i.e. help.[brandname].com
! Please note that this step is not reversible. If verification is initiated against the wrong URL, you must create a new site and begin the domain connection process again.
Once you have selected 'Initiate Verification', Mavenoid will wait to verify the connection between the old domain (.mavenoidsite.com) and your chosen custom domain.
The values required to be inputted in your DNS provider will be given on screen as below.
Once added, Mavenoid will be able to automatically verify the connection. This process can take up to 4 hours depending on the DNS provider. Once verified, an SSL certificate will be generated for your subdomain. There is no requirement for you to send Mavenoid any SSL certificates.
To understand whether your domain connection is live, navigate back to your domain section. Next to your domain, you will be see one of three statuses:
Live: Your custom domain is live
Pending: Mavenoid is still awaiting verification from the DNS provider*
Failed: Mavenoid was unable to verify the connection with your custom domain
Please note that this stage can take up 4 hours. If concerned, please reach out to the support team for further investigation.
